Day one of recording 1/03/2012

Today we began our recording, as stated in previous posts we were going to use the nurses office at  the Northwood campus unfortunately due to exams this was not possible, so as to keep our recording on schedule we changed the setting of our opening scene to the nurses office at the Foxely site. Although the setting was not as authentic looking as we hoped it still suited its purpose and worked well with our scene.

We began by Natalie saying all her lines and shooting all her scenes and close ups and then I did mine. We did it this way as we only had one costume and doing this made it easier than to keep changing, also it allowed us to concentrate on one thing at a time rather than keeping swapping between my scenes and Natalie's scenes.

We used differing shots like close ups on laughter as when edited and put into our film this will add an eeriness to our opening. We also used a high angle shot to mimic a security camera in one of the characters room, to achieve this effect I had to stand on a chair while holding the camera on a tripod and giving Natalie floor markings on where to stand so if we had to retake some shots it would be the same  every time. Doing this shot was very hard as I had to hold the camera and try to prevent shaking but I feel it worked well.
This is the room we used at the Foxely site.

We found this curtain screen in the medical room and used it as a background to our video, it worked well as a prop in our scene as it reinforced the hospital setting making it look authentic.

For some of our scenes we struggled to get the right shots, for example there is a scene where Natalie had to laugh she struggled with this scene as she found it hard to laugh on cue, so to get this shot I left the camera recording for a while, while we just talked and eventually we got shots of her laughing which could be edited together to create the long laugh we were looking for.

We also added some shots to our scene which were created out of inspiration during our recording process, for example, I thought a great shot would be a close up of both the characters are just moving around and blinking this will give our film a creepy effect and reinforce the theme of our film, the point of view of the killer, the audience see everything through the killers eyes.
